Strikingly intricate wildlife images fill the recently published kids' picture book, "Curious Critters" by David FitzSimmons. The award winning photographer, writer and university professor from Ohio enlisted 21 creatures from nature centers, rehabilitation centers, zoos and his own backyard. To photograph them he placed them in a fabric cube called a light tent. The resulting photos show 21 animals -- from spotted salamanders to red-eyed vireos and jumping spiders -- in all their glorious colors, patterns and shapes, on a pure white background.
In childlike language, the text explains predator-prey relationships, life cycles, the importance of habitat protection and other concepts related to wildlife. "Curious Critters" received a silver medal in the 2011 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards competition.

"Age Is Just A Number"
Please don't ever let someone tell you that you cannot do something because you are "too young", (or that you are too old). These amazing force-free trainers are 11, 12, and 14 years of age. Look what they have accomplished with their pony companions! You can do this too. Never give up on your dreams.
